At what age would you start insisting that a child...?

my sons only a month old right now, but i would assume that i'd start teaching him all these things as soon as he started feeding himself, and learning to use utensils, i wouldn't expect him to get it right away or be perfect with hit, but it sure beats teaching him to self feed...then teaching him how to do it with some etiquette later..except for the napkin thing...because we don't do that
