Cardiac Stress Test Report?

Ischemia means that the heart was not getting enough oxygen at some point during the test. The meaning of the results depend on your mother's age, medical history, and the point at which ischemia was induced with regard to things like her respiratory rate, blood gas levels, and pulse rate. Ischemia can be induced in a normal heart if a person is pushed hard enough. Ischemia is generally very difficult to induce in a young athelete, but not so difficult to induce in a person that is older and who does not participate in regular aerobic exercise. Observation of induced ischemia in an a older person might merely reflect normal hardening of the arteries with age if it only occurs after she was already exercising beyond her aerobic capacity. The results might also indicate narrowing of the coronary arteries, but maybe not to the extent that it is affecting her heart.
