Does endless mean the same thing as formality?

No. "Endless' is an adjective and describes something that has no end. "Interminable" is a synonym. "Formality" is a noun. We use formality in many business situations, with people we don't know well. The opposite of formality is casualness. We are casual with family and friends, formal with the queen of England.
